Porsche Boxster front disc brake upgrade!

To finish off the Porsche look, I wanted to upgrade the front brakes to Porsche 4-pot callipers using Porsche 944 hubs which also allowed the Fuchs alloys to fit without running adaptors. The Porsche 944 hubs needed cleaning and machining which Dave at CC Precision Engineering Ltd, Manor Royal, Crawley (01293 552443) happily carried out. Lanner at vDUB Engineering in Canada (http://vdubengineering.com/) provided the adaptor kit to fit Porsche Boxster Brembo calipers to the front spindles. The cross drilled rotors, brake pads and retaining pins came from Design911 (www.design911.co.uk) and all of the kit was fitted...

OK, so I treated the bus to a brand new front suspension setup from Red9 Design (http://www.red9design.com/buswishbones.htm) which was fitted by Stuart Bird at Birdy's Buses (http://www.croydonautorepairs.com/). Wow what a difference!

Creative Engineering rear hubs (5x130PCD)

James (our little engineer) wanted to help fit the new Creative Engineering rear drums (http://www.creative-engineering.com) as I needed to change them so that the Fuchs alloys fit. A Late Bay has a wheel PCD of 5x112 whereas a Porsche has a wheel PCD of 5x130. The CE rear drums have the 5x130PCD Porsche pattern and bolt straight on - lovely bit of kit!...

New set of Fuchs alloys

Bought a set of 16x6J Fuchs alloys from eBay which needed a refurb. I found a company called Premier Wheels in Coulsdon (http://www.premierwheelrepairs.com/) who diamond cut, primered, painted the centres in body colour (Porsche Chartreuse) and polished the set. Must admit that they look simply stunning! So to the tyres, got a set of 195/60-R16 6-ply tyres from Blackcircles (www.blackcircles.com) and they were fitted by Steve Watkin (aka The Professor) at Valley Automotive who has a trick Scooby powered VW Beetle 1303 with Porsche brakes and alloys.

Putts Corner, Sidmouth, Devon 7th / 11th July 2011

Absolutely lashed it down on the drive down, wipers on full speed and a bit hairy but made it in the end. First trip out for the new Fishbrain Navigator Kombi awning and it survived the torrential night-time downpour! We weren’t the only Bay in the campsite as we parked up to another late bay, a twin slider on a V plate with an Audi 80 engine in the back. Geoff and Adele were the happy campers – hi guys, hope you made it back to Chester ok!

Just Kampers Open Day, 18 June

First drive out with Sarah and both kids and what a day! Followed by a girl in a white Early Bay from Reigate junction on M25 all the way along the A31 (Hog’s Back) to just past Farnham where she turned off. Perhaps she wasn’t going to the open day after all? Fun afternoon although Just Kampers ran out of burgers pretty quick, queue for the 10% discount off everything was huge too! Checked out some of the other rides and the white early bay turned up! Apparently she had picked up here niece to go to the local school in Odiham’s fete and then brought her on to the open day.
